We here at Lady A Fans have been dealing with a few issues. They started a long time ago but have recently just manifested to the point where we can no longer bite our tongues and sit by and watch things happen.

Stealing.
We've been dealing with this in some way shape or form ever since starting this blog/twitter/etc. People take our pictures, ones we've taken personally and ones that taken money or ones fellow fans have sent to us. All we want is the simple gesture of someone asking "Hey can we use ____ ?". Or even simply giving us credit for what we have provided.

Another area where people seem to steal is ideas and I know that has frustrated members of this team. Sure some ideas are common and can be used and twisted every which way, but it still brings the ones that have started with and ran with the idea pure frustration and not knowing what to say or do.

So please think before you do any of those things. It discourages many people and all we want to do is bring you our best and brightest!

On a happier note, we are working on some fantastic things! Please contact us at ladyafans@gmail.com if you'd like to be part of our latest Fan Project! It's not a video one and anyone anywhere can participate in it!

Lady A Karaoke Contest!

Do you love dancing around and singing along to your favorite Lady A songs? Well then this is the contest for you! We are doing a karaoke contest. Just film yourself singing along to a Lady A song and send it in. And we encourage getting creative-perhaps shake your booty like Hillary does in the video for Lookin' For a Good Time. Maybe even re-enact a video or concert performance! Here are the list of rules that we've set for the contest:

1. Must be a song from one of the 3 CDs released (debut CD, Need You Now & A Merry Little Christmas) No live versions, covers or other bonus tracks allowed.
2. Only 1 song per video. No mash-ups of various songs in one video.
3. Can have multiple people in a video singing.
4. Must show the person/people singing in the video. No animation or using puppets in place of people.
5. The video needs to be of the whole song, not just a 30 second clip.
6. Up to 3 entries per person is allowed
7. Contest is open to all, not just fans in the US! I figure if you do an awesome enough job to win, I am willing to pay the extra postage for your dedication :)

A couple new rules that have come up:
8. This is not a contest for covers-any singing and playing needs to be done with the CD recording.
9. No karaoke versions of the recordings should be used. The music you sing along with needs to be from one of the 3 CDs outlined in rule #1.
10. Words should be kept original to the song. (this isn't a Lady Hazing contest, but maybe we'll have one of those in the future!)

Deadline to submit your video(s) is Saturday, November 13th. Simply email us your submission to ladyafans@gmail.com and we will upload all of the videos to our YouTube account after the deadline has passed. You may need to upload your video to senspace.com to send it to us due to the large file sizes. Voting will then take place to determine the winner. The prize for this contest is a signed debut CD!

Exclusive Lady Antebellum Show at City Winery in New York Kicks off

Musicians On Call’s Month of Music

September 16, 2010—New York, NY—Musicians On Call (MOC), a nonprofit organization that brings live music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities, announced a special performance by renowned trio Lady Antebellum at City Winery in New York on October 13, 2010. The show, which will benefit MOC, is part of the organization’s Month of Music initiative, a series of fundraising events in New York and Nashville during the month of October. An intimate and exclusive V.I.P event with special red carpet appearances by artists and celebrities who support MOC, the show promises to be a very special evening for Lady Antebellum fans. Individual tickets start at $150 and go up to $1000 which includes front row seats and a meet and greet with the artists. Tickets can be purchased at www.musiciansoncall.org.

We here at Lady A Fans want to celebrate this new message board the only way we know how...with a contest! We have a fair amount of members here but what's a board without more people to talk with! This contest will be a referral contest. That way we get some more people up in here!

Here is how it will work!:

1. Invite all your friends to this message board!

2. Get your friend to make an intro post and there will be a "referred by" thread and they will post who referred them in that thread.

3. The person you refer MUST be active! What do we mean by "active" ? They must respond to posts and start threads. We are making it that they must start at least 5-10 threads/topics for the month of August. These threads must be something of substance.

4. At the end of the month we will tally up and see who referred the most active members. The winner will be announced and they will win an E-Certificate for Napster for 10 free downloads and a Lady Antebellum Shirt, size Large. Second Place will receive a Lady Antebellum sticker.

Respect Take 2

Wow, just wow. I know I made a post about this previously, but some people just keep pressing my buttons on the subject at hand; Respect.

I don't know where some of you have been learning it from, but let's just have a simple review.

Respect for the band is something we have always prided ourselves on. We just thought it was common sense, but we were wrong. So many twitters and various places have shown that they just simply do not respect the band or maybe even anyone else for that matter. Sure we could go out on a limb and try our best to rationalize every situation on a case by case basis making endless excuses for what we see, but in the end it's just all the same, people being disrespectful.

So what's the point in all this ranting and raving? Sure I can't make people respectful, they can only do that themselves. But maybe I just hope when people read this, they will think twice before making idiotic choices around the internet. Not just when it comes to Lady Antebellum, but in all aspects of their life. Anyone they talk to. Because I am pretty sure if they don't respect a band, they most likely aren't respecting others in their lives that probably deserve it as well.

We have created a YouTube channel as a way to better share videos with everyone. We have a few of our own that we have uploaded, including the video of us giving Lady A the scrapbook at the fan club party.
Our YouTube channel will be a way for people to go back and find YouTube videos that we may have posted at one time. Instead of looking through all of our past tweets to find the link just go to the channel and search through the favorited videos!
And from time to time we may favorite videos and not post it on twitter, so be sure to friend us if you have an account to keep up to date!

Personal Stance on Personal things

We here at Lady A Fans have always prided ourselves on the respect we have for the band we love. This means, we do not post any personal information or pictures unless it is brought up in an interview we can site, or a picture posted on a photo agency web site.

We find it to be extremely rude and in bad taste to post anything that is meant to fall under the "personal" category when it comes to the band. We are all about respect here at Lady A Fans and we will not promote any other sites that wish to go down that road nor will you see anything of that nature on this site.

When it comes down to it, remember the adage your mama taught you:
"Treat others how you would want to be treated."

The twitter account is a year old and what a great year it has been. A big thank you to all of our followers, we hope you keep liking what we do!
Now a word from each of us about what the experience has been for us-

Steph
We've been around a year?! Wow. It amazes me how such a simple idea, turned into something I never really expected it to turn into. I was just goofing around one day when the idea hit me and I knew I couldn't do it alone so asked the two people I trust most and adore, Denise and Mandy. Thankfully they were game. I couldn't have asked for better staff/friends. I think that's what makes us work together well, we respect each other and we are friends, plain and simple as that. They work so hard and are so dedicated to this "project".

It's been great to have so many different ideas and opportunities float around, with FAN imput. That's the one goal I always had with this twitter and blog. To have fellow fans participate and work on various things with us (ie. the fan card and video card). It's just so cool to have seen all these ideas come to light with just a spark of in site from others.

There have been many highlights this past year that I can't even condense my thoughts (trust me, they are all over the place!).

Thank you so much to our followers and to Lady a for inspiring us to do what we do!

When Steph told me that she had an idea to start a fan twitter for Lady A and asked me if I wanted to help with it, I didn't even have to hesitate before saying yes! It sounded like something fun to do since I was already getting addicted to twitter and I love Lady A. I didn't think it would get to be as big as it is. I remember thinking it was awesome when we hit 100 followers and now we are almost at 3700 followers! There's been a lot of exciting moments during the year like when Lady A started following us, and then even tweeted to us. But the most memorable thing to date is Operation Surprise. Getting letters and pictures from so many people was great to make the scrapbook as good as it was. And then of course to be able to give it to them at the fan club party and to see their reaction was priceless.

It's hard to believe it's been a year since this started and it has flown by. Thank you all for helping us grow and spreading the word when we were a small twitter. Lady A truly has some of the most amazing fans and thank you for taking part in whatever we have done. Like Denise Operation Surprise was the most memorable thing to date and to see their reactions. We hope you guys continue to follow us as we bring you all the news and chart updates as their careers grow. Denise and Steph I couldn't ask for two better people to work with on this twitter and blog. I love you both and it was good to both meet you this year.

Operation Surprise/FC Party

Fans started lining up as early as 2:30 for the 2010 Lady Antebellum Fan Club Party. Doors opened at 9 exactly to let us in. People started rushing in, almost knocking people over, yes people were that crazy at the party. They had chairs lined up and some standing room only. They provided us with a boxed breakfast and a drink for us.

The MCN team, who we have to give awesome props to for helping pull off OS which we'll tell you about shortly, did the raffles before the show started. Lady A finally came out and performed Love Don't Live Here, I Run To You, Looking For a Good Time, When You Got a Good Thing, Our Kind of Love, Need You now, American Honey. The banter was far from short as you'll see in When You Good Thing video.

All the money from that fan club party was all going to good causes thanks to office max. We won't go into full details for that you're going to have to watch ABC this fall to see that! Red Cross and Donelson Christian Academy both received donations from Lady A.

Now to Operation Surprise, we can't thank you guys enough for taking part in it. We were overwhelmed at the response with pictures and then the letters so thank you to everyone. The scrapbook ended up being 43 pages with the photos and letters from you guys the fans. We can't thank Craig enough for working with us to be able to present this to them. We weren't able to use all the photos but we tried to use something of everyone's if you gave us photos and the letters were included. We could put into words how they reacted but ya know we'll let the video we filmed show you their reactions to finding out and looking at it.

We won't reveal to much about that day but we will say this tune in on September 1st on ABC, no Lady A fan will be disappointed we can promise you that!

Ryman Review!

I know it's late but it's better then nothing:

I was at both nights, first night I was about 7 rows back center, next night 9 rows back center. I have been seeing Lady A shows since April 07. Out of all of them this was by far the best I have ever seen them. The first night the crowd was more subdued; however, the second night it was a crazy crowd. They fed off the energy the second night and the second night completely topped the first night.

Lady A came out before the show started and Charles and Hillary both introduced the opening acts and how they are tied to them. First up both nights was Randy Montana. He is an amazing country singer and very talented. His single just hit the airwaves called "Ain't That Much Left of Lovin You." Hillary also came out and joined him for one song on stage. They sounded amazing together, so I recommend you check out his single on itunes and check out his myspace.

Next up was Josh Kelley. Now anyone who knows their Lady A history, Josh was the first act Lady A ever opened for. Now Josh is opening for them and preparing for the launch of his country album, due out later this year. The first night he sang Rain and Whiskey and dedicated it to a female family member who loves whiskey and hoped he landed a sponsorship with a whiskey maker. The second night though he sang Georgia Clay which he wrote with Charles. Josh also did Naleighmoon and Gone Like That both nights.

Next up was the headlining act Lady A! Now I couldn't be prouder of them and how far they have come. To see them come from 3rd and Lindsley to playing two sold out shows at the Ryman was amazing! They were spot on both nights. They have grown and hopefully soon we'll see them headlining their own tour.

Omaha Concert Review-First Night of the Southern Voice Tour 2-11-10

Before Lady A even stepped out on stage, I knew that the show was a step up from what I’ve seen before. After the lights dimmed, the 2 side stage screens showed a shot of a computer screen searching on Google and the word “Lady” was typed in. Then a picture of Kenny Rogers was shown and the song Lady was being played. A few more of these Google searches included “1 Lady + 2 Dudes” which led to Dude Looks Like A Lady and “Lady + strange name” led to Lady Gaga. Finally “Lady Ant” was typed in and the real Lady A took the stage!

They came out ready to get the crowd going right away with Stars Tonight. And they kept that energy going most of the night. The 11 song, 45 minute set only slowed down on Hello World and Need You Now.
Before starting Hello World, Charles told the crowd to listen closely to the lyrics. I felt the lighting that was done for this song really brought out the mood of it. For most of the song there is just blue lights shining on the stage. Hillary starts out on the song by sitting by Dave at the piano to give Charles the stage. The song was even better live than on the CD, as was all the songs they did.

Before the start of American Honey there is a video of a young boy (who I believe may be Dave) with a plastic bat and a ball on a tee. You can hear his mom talking to him from behind the camera. He eventually does a big ole’ swing and a miss and then the spotlight goes to Dave on stage playing the guitar for the start of the song.
The only cover song of the night came towards the end when they did John Mellencamp’s R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A. with a line or two of That’s What I Like About You thrown in towards the end, which blended very well together.

Overall, the concert was amazing and they are definitely ready to move to a headlining position. Lady A has enough material to fill up the 1.5 to 2 hours a headliner does. They worked the entire stage which had a t-shaped catwalk similar to what Kenny Chesney had on his tour last year, but this time around Lady A could actually go on it. The chemistry between them all is even higher than the last time I saw them. This group is growing exponentially and I can’t wait to see where they will be by the end of the year.

The 2 differences we were looking for are:
1. Around 3 minutes in the original online version there is a small fade to black while Hillary is singing and in the TV version it is a straight cut.
2. Around 3:30 when Dave and the girl are walking into the hotel in the original version they are just holding hands, but in the TV version they have their arms around each other.

Then there is the version played on TV, which is also the same as the one at the end of the behind the scenes webisode. There are two slight, but noticeable, differences in the 2 videos. Watch both and see if you can tell what those differences are. Then email us at ladyafans@gmail.com what they are and you could win a Lady A bumper sticker! You have from now until Monday, November 30th at noon CST to turn in your answers. Of the correct answers, one person will be randomly selected to win the prize. Halloween is creeping up on us. The time of candy overdoses, haunted houses and the best part, COSTUMES! What could be more fun than THAT?! Oh, we know! Dressing up like your favorite member of Lady Antebellum, THAT'S what! We'll break it down for you!

1) Hillary Scott--
You have two choices with hair color, blonde or the newer/fall brunette look. For the blonde I recommend the Hannah Montana wig. Why? It's cheap and has the highlights. You do indeed have to cut it to a shorter length or style. With Natural or synthetic hair we recommend her cute curly look. Just KEEP IN MIND if you are trying to curl/apply heat to synthetic hair, that most of the cheap ones are flammable. Unless you want a visit from the local fire department hunks, steer clear of that! As for clothing you can doll it up with the awards look with a fancy low cut dress and make your own prop of an award you won! Or the very simple laid back look of jeans, a white tank and something sparkly to jazz it up. Large rings or necklaces are also a part. What girl doesn't love to just bling things up?

2)Dave Haywood--
Dressing for men is much simpler as it is in everyday life. Basically all you need is jeans and flannel or you can snazz it all up and go fancier with a dress shirt and vest.As for facial hair, ladies either use makeup to allude the 5 o'clock shadow or odds and end stores do sell mustache of the week backs! As for props with Dave we say that Big Red is a must. What would the real Dave be without his trusty sidekick of a guitar?! Be creative here we know you can't find one just laying around the house. Return to the days of childhood and construct one out of a shoe box!

3)Charles Kelley--
Charles is a simple man and we enjoy that. Jeans and a tight fit tee or plain old flannel. Those are things everyone should already have in their wardrobe. As for the beard and mustache thing follow the instructions for Dave above. You can even just make a "mask" of one! He's the easiest to pull off by far! As for props, go with a mic and if wanted a wedding band!

With all of these just have fun! Pictures may be added later! Don't take yourself so seriously, let loose and be a little dorky! Creativity is always a plus!

Light the Night is a national campaign from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. They are walks that take place all over the nation in support of finding a cure.

The blog is back. No new layout since I was busy, plus it should be all about the content anyway! POTD is on a stand still for the time being but will eventually be back. Things might seem slow every now and then, but we are still here, it's just as usual, life happens.

Hiatus Explanation

We here at Lady Antebellum fans are taking a week off from the blog here to gather up some fresh ideas, and take a break. We are all very busy lately and as most know the sacred rule is that real life comes before anything what so ever on the internet.

We want to also just regroup our thoughts and go back to the whole reason we started this little blogosphere adventure, something fun to do while supporting our favorite band at the same time. Truthfully, lately it hasn't felt that way for us. So we need to just go back and concentrate on the whole reason we started this.

What this means is some changes. Mostly in concerns of the daily features we have been offering. They will exists but just won't be daily.POTD and Music Mondays are most likely staying though as a daily. We will still post news and tidbits and things you guys send us too.

So sit tight and we will be back before you know it!

Steph's thoughts on the video:
I really like it. Just how the song is a new direction for them, so is the video. I like the color tone through it. I like that involves all three members of the band in a sort of storyline that is the same for each all with the same outcome. They are all looking sexy as hell. Hillary's eyes all smokey and "come hither" as some would say. She looks sexy and seductive, and is fully clothed while doing so! Which is rare in this day and age in videos and real life. All in all, I really hope this video does well on the countdown charts. I think it will, but you don't want to be too pushy and optimistic. They did great work and I think the country music world will enjoy it!
